The Gold Standard

What Exactly Is a
Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post — about the size and shape of a tooth root — surgically placed into the jawbone where a tooth is missing. Over 3–6 months, the titanium fuses with the surrounding bone in a process called osseointegration, creating an incredibly stable, permanent foundation.

Once the implant has fully integrated, a small connector piece (the abutment) is attached to the post, and a custom-crafted porcelain crown is secured on top. The result is a tooth replacement virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth — in appearance, feel, and function.

Unlike bridges, implants do not require alteration of adjacent healthy teeth. Unlike dentures, they are permanent, secure, and bone-preserving. Dr. Brown has been restoring patients' smiles with dental implants for over 30 years.

Solutions for Every Situation

Types of Dental Implants
We Offer in Fort Worth

Whether you're missing one tooth or all of them, Dr. Brown has an implant solution tailored to your unique situation and goals.

Most Common

Single Tooth Implant

The ideal solution when you are missing exactly one tooth. A single titanium implant and custom porcelain crown replace the missing tooth completely — without touching the adjacent teeth. The result looks and feels completely natural.

Ideal for: One missing tooth anywhere in the mouth

No Bone Alteration

Multiple Teeth Implants

When several adjacent teeth are missing, implant-supported bridges restore them efficiently. Two implants support a multi-tooth bridge — a more stable, permanent solution than a traditional removable bridge, with no impact on neighbouring healthy teeth.

Ideal for: 2 or more adjacent missing teeth

Implant-Supported Dentures

For patients missing most or all teeth on an arch, implant-supported dentures offer the security and stability of implants with the efficiency of a full-arch prosthetic. As few as 4 implants can anchor a full set of replacement teeth that won't slip, click, or require adhesives.

Ideal for: Most or all teeth missing on one or both arches

Step by Step

Your Dental Implant Journey
at Our Fort Worth Office

The dental implant process is a multi-step journey toward a permanent smile. While it requires patience, the results are worth it — a beautiful, fully functional tooth that can last the rest of your life.

Consultation & Evaluation

Visit 1 — Day 1

Dr. Brown performs a comprehensive oral health evaluation, reviews your medical history, and takes digital X-rays to assess bone density and jaw anatomy. We discuss your goals, review your options, and design your personalised treatment plan with transparent cost estimates.

Preparatory Procedures (If Needed)

If Required — Varies

Some patients need bone grafting (to build up insufficient bone) or a tooth extraction before the implant can be placed. These preparatory steps ensure your jawbone can properly support the implant for a long-lasting result.

Implant Post Placement

Surgical Visit — 1–2 Hours

Under local anaesthesia, Dr. Brown carefully places the titanium implant post into the jawbone at the precise location and angle needed. Most patients report little to no discomfort during the procedure, and mild soreness for 2–3 days after — easily managed with over-the-counter medication.

Osseointegration — Healing Period

3 to 6 Months

This critical healing phase allows the titanium post to fuse permanently with your jawbone. You'll return for periodic check-in appointments. Most patients resume normal daily activities within a few days of implant placement.

Abutment Placement

Short Appointment

Once the implant has fully integrated, the abutment (connector piece) is attached to the post. Impressions of your teeth are taken and sent to the dental lab where your custom porcelain crown is crafted to perfectly match your smile.

Crown Placement — Your New Tooth!

Final Visit

Your custom porcelain crown is secured onto the abutment. Dr. Brown checks the fit, bite alignment, and appearance — then you walk out with a complete, beautiful, fully functional tooth designed to last a lifetime.

Are Implants Right for You?

Who Is a Good Candidate
for Dental Implants?

Most healthy adults with missing teeth are excellent candidates for dental implants. The best way to know for sure is a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Brown — but here's a general guide to what we look for:

Good Candidate Indicators

One or more missing teeth
Adequate jawbone density
Healthy gums (no active gum disease)
General good health
Non-smoker (or willing to quit)
Fully developed jawbone (adults only)

May Require Additional Evaluation

Significant bone loss (may need graft)
Uncontrolled diabetes
Active gum disease (treatable first)
Heavy smoker
Even if you have some "caution" factors, you may still qualify — bone grafting and preparatory treatments can often make implants possible. Only a consultation can tell you for certain.

Investment in Your Smile

Dental Implant Cost &
Financing in Fort Worth, TX

Dental implants are an investment — but one that pays dividends for a lifetime. We believe cost should never be a barrier to the smile you deserve.

Factors That Affect Implant Cost

Number of Implants

Single tooth, multiple teeth, or full-arch restorations each have different investment levels. More implants = greater total cost but often better per-tooth value.

Bone Grafting

If you have insufficient bone density, grafting is required before implant placement — this adds time and cost but is essential for long-term success.

Insurance Coverage

Coverage varies by plan. Some insurers cover the crown, extraction, or bone graft. Our team verifies your benefits before treatment so you know exactly what to expect.

Financing Available

We offer flexible payment plans through CareCredit and other financing partners to spread the cost comfortably over time — with low or 0% interest options.

Financing Your Implants

We never want cost to stand between you and a healthy, complete smile. Our team will work with you to find the right financing solution — from insurance maximisation to monthly payment plans.

  • Most major dental insurance plans accepted
  • CareCredit financing with low & 0% interest options
  • We verify your insurance benefits before your first visit
  • Transparent, itemised cost estimate before any work begins

Long-Term Value

While implants have a higher upfront cost than bridges or dentures, they often cost less over time — they last a lifetime and don't require the replacement, adjustment, or adhesive costs associated with other options.

Your Questions Answered

Dental Implant FAQs

Still have questions? Call us at (817) 920-0882 — we're always happy to help.

With proper care and regular dental checkups, the titanium implant post can last a lifetime. It is designed as a permanent fixture — once osseointegration is complete, it becomes part of your jawbone. The porcelain crown on top may eventually need replacement after 15–25 years due to normal wear, but the implant itself typically never needs replacing.

Dental implant surgery is performed under effective local anaesthesia — you should feel no pain during the procedure itself. Most patients describe feeling pressure but no sharp pain. After the anaesthesia wears off, you may experience mild soreness and swelling for 2–3 days, easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication such as ibuprofen.

Most of our implant patients are pleasantly surprised by how manageable the recovery is. Many return to normal activities the very next day.

From initial consultation to final crown placement, the complete process typically takes 3–6 months. The majority of this time is the osseointegration (healing) period, during which the titanium post fuses with the jawbone. You do not need to be in the office during this time — only periodic check-in visits are required.

If bone grafting is needed, this adds additional healing time before implant placement can occur. Dr. Brown will provide a personalised timeline during your consultation.

There is no upper age limit for dental implants. Age alone is not a disqualifying factor — what matters is your overall health and bone density. We have successfully placed implants in patients well into their 80s. As long as you are in reasonable health and have adequate bone support (or can receive a bone graft), implants are an option.

Absolutely. The porcelain crown that attaches to your implant is custom-crafted to match the exact shape, size, and colour of your surrounding natural teeth. Most people — including other dentists — cannot tell the difference between an implant and a natural tooth. Dr. Brown takes great care to ensure every implant crown is aesthetically perfect and blends seamlessly with your smile.

Caring for a dental implant is the same as caring for a natural tooth — brush twice daily, floss daily, and attend your regular 6-month dental checkups. There are no special tools or products required. The implant itself cannot get a cavity, but the surrounding gum tissue still needs to be kept clean and healthy to ensure long-term success.
